United Western Bank

United Western Bank is one of the largest private sector commercial Banks in India. United Western Bank was incorporated in 1936. The Bank was founded by Annasaheb Chirmule. Annasaheb Chirmule worked for the cause of Swadeshi movement with a view to make natives self-dependent. He founded - The Satara Swadeshi Commercial Bank Ltd. in 1907. The success of this bank led him to establish United Western Bank. The United Western Bank Limited commenced operations on March 8, 1937.

United Western Bank acquired the status of a Scheduled Bank in 1951. United Western Bank had a series of mergers with other banks: Union Bank of Kolhapur in 1956 and The Satara Swadeshi Commercial Bank Limited in 1961. United Western Bank acquired the status of 'B' class Bank in 1969 and 'A' class Bank in 1974.

United Western Bank has a three tier organizational structure - Head Office, Zones, and Branches. The Bank's 230 branches spread over 47 districts of 9 states are controlled by five Zonal Offices at Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Jalgaon, and Nagpur.
