The Providence Stadium is one of the cricket stadiums specifically
built in the West Indies for the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup. Built at
the cost of US $25,000,000, the brand new Providence Stadium will be one
of prominent sporting landmarks in Guyana. The Government of India has
provided the financial assistance for the Providence Stadium project.
Besides accommodating 20000-odd spectators, the Providence Stadium will
house a shopping mall and luxury apartments. Located 9 km from the
capital city of Georgetown on the east bank of the Demerara River, the
Providence Cricket Stadium enjoys good connectivity to the city center
and the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
The Providence Stadium will host six Super 8 matches in the 2007 ICC
Cricket World Cup.
