Indian Premier League Teams

Here is a list and breif introduction of all the teams that are playing in the 2008 version of the Indian Premier League twenty20 Cricket tournament. You will also find interesting facts about IPL players, owners, logos, promotional events etc in the individual pages of IPL teams.

Rajasthan Royals
The Rajasthan Royals represent the pink city of Jaipur. This team might not seem like much of a threat, but this is the only team in the whole Indian Premier League which has its captain as the coach as well. And it's no one else, but Shane Warne himself, who will coach the team apart from captaining it as well. He is also the only non-Indian cricketer to lead a side in the whole of IPL.

Mumbai Indians
The city of Mumbai will be represented by the team of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. While the former manager of the Indian cricket team Lalchand Rajput will be the coach of the team, Sachin Tendulkar will be the captain of the team.

Kolkata Knight Riders
The city of Kolkata is being represented by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Sourav Ganguly is the captain of the team and its Icon Player while John Buchanan is the coach of the team. The official theme of the team is "Korbo, Lorbo, Jitbo Re" meaning We will do it, Fight for it, Win it). The theme of the team clearly shows the tremendous confidence and strength that this team has got.

Kings XI Punjab
True to its name, the Kings XI Punjab are a bunch of spirited, passionate, entertaining, brave and lion hearted players who have made their mission crystal clear - "To be the most successful and entertaining franchise in the league". The team has got some amazing players like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena, Irfan Pathan and Brett Lee on their side. With names like PreityZinta, Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul behind the venture, the team is expected to perform very well

Delhi Daredevils
The National Capital of India, Delhi is being represented by the Delhi Daredevils. The Nawab of Najafgarh - Virender Sehwag himself will be leading the team from the front. The team consists of players like AB de Villiers, Gautam Gambhir and Shoaib Malik apart from Glenn McGrath, Daniel Vettori and Mohamad Asif.

Chennai Super Kings
Though the Chennai Super Kings doesn't have any Icon Player but with names like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Matthew Hayden, Stephen Fleming, Michael Hussey and Jacob Oram, they sure are going to put up a tough fight for the opposition.

Deccan Chargers
The city of Hyderabad will be represented by the Deccan Chargers. The owner of the Deccan Chargers is the media house Deccan Chronicle. The Chargers have players like Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Scott Styris, Herschelle Gibbs and Shahid Afridi on their side. Among the bowlers, the team has got some strong talent in RP Singh, Chaminda Vaas and Nuwan Zoysa. It has also got some young players in the team, Rohit Sharma Arjun Yadav to name a few.

Bangalore Royal Challengers
The Bangalore Royal Challengers team is representing the city of Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. The owner of the team is the liquor baron Vijay Mallya who is also the Chairman of the UB Group. He purchased the team for an amount of US$ 111.6 million.
