The Deccan Odyssey is an opulent train that is made
on the lines of renowned Palace on Wheels. Established to boost tourism
on the Konkan route, Deccan Odyssey's journey begins in Mumbai,
following Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Pune, Nashik,
Aurangabad, Ajanta-Ellora and again back to Mumbai, covering some of the
remarkable tourist destinations of Maharashtra and Goa. This luxury
train is a joint venture of the Government of Maharashtra and the
Ministry of Railways.
Introduced in Jan' 2004, Deccan Odyssey is undoubtedly a class
experience to feel. The extravagant Deccan Odyssey doesn't only approach
the major tourist destinations, but simultaneously it aspires to serve
its passengers amenities of world-class standards. In concise terms, the
train is no less than a 5-star hotel proviso on wheels. Deccan Odyssey
boasts of a spa saloon, six-channel music, TV, DVD, massage-cum-beauty
parlour, cyber cafe, a bar, sauna bath, business centre along with two
lavish restaurants.
Besides all the affluent facilities, Deccan Odyssey also provides the
facility to regulate the temperature in each cabin according to the
individual preferences. The onboard services are administered by the
staff of globally extolled Taj Group of Hotels. Deccan Odyssey also has
supplementary amenities of Presidential Suite Cabins, Spa & Massage
treatments, Lounge, Gymnasium, Library, Money exchange facility, Credit
cards, Conference Lounge Car, Business Centre etc.
During the day, one can visit each tourist attraction with guides and
reach back in the late afternoon to spend the night at train. As per the
situation, one can also take the journey minimum for three nights
otherwise the whole tour is for seven days. Luggage Collection, Arrival
kit, Personal attendant, Mineral water, Medical Aid, Mail Box etc. are
some of the individual services that are provided immaculately in Deccan
Odyssey.
Every passenger cabin has an attached toilet with shower cubicle that is
daily refurbished with soaps, shampoos, moisturizers etc. Each passenger
car has four deluxe cabins that are attended by an attendant. In
totality, the train can accommodate 104 passengers at a time. Deccan
Odyssey leaves from Mumbai station every Wednesday heading for other
destinations. The splendorous journey would rejuvenate the era of
Peshwas, the feudal lords of Western India.
