Little Rann of Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary is situated
at a distance of approximately 93 km from the Ahmedabad city of Gujarat.
Spread over an area of approximately 4950 sq km, the sanctuary counts
amongst one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in India. The habitats
provided by Little Rann of Kutchh Wildlife Sanctuary of India ranges
from saline desert plains to arid grasslands to rocky and thorn scrub to
lakes and marshes.
Wildlife
Rann of Kutchh Wildlife Sanctuary of Gujarat is the only abode of
Asiatic Wild Ass in India. The chestnut-brown animal is the last
survivor of wild horse family of the Indian subcontinent and is found
nowhere in the country except the Thar Desert of Gujarat. The other
wildlife attractions of the Little Rann of Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary
include Gazelle, Blue Bull, Wolf, Indian Foxes, Jackal, Jungle Cat,
Hare, etc.
Bird Species
The famous bird species found inhabiting Indian Little Rann of Kutch
Wildlife Sanctuary are Laggar Falcon, Spotted & Indian Sandgrouse,
Flamingoes, Francolin Partridge, Desert Larks, Houbara Bustard, Bustard
Quails, Desert Wheatear, Short Toed Eagle, Steppe Eagle, Imperial Eagle,
Storks, Ducks, Cranes and Pelicans.
